Studies
HTW Berlin and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences jointly run the international master programme ConREM – Construction and Real Estate Management.It is designed for professionals who wish to manage international projects for building construction and real estate in the future. Therefore it is mainly addressed to professionals in the field of architecture and civil engineering.
First year studies of ConREM (60 ECTS during semesters 1 and 2) will be organized by Metropolia (Helsinki). Second year studies (semesters 3 and 4) will be in HTW Berlin.
Content
ConREM provides you a combination of engineering, economics, management and communication. Specific contents, like project development and project management as well as life cycle management, and general subjects, such as soft skills and leadership, are taught – all in context of international business. Accordingly this programme is taught completely in English.ConREM enables you to cooperate with people of different social, cultural and professional backgrounds, to adapt to foreign environments and to become acquainted with different mentalities and habits. Management abilities and adaptability to manage changing international conditions is a need for cooperation and teamwork in a global market on national and international level.
Applying
The student selection will be made in Berlin based on the points applicants have received of their educational background (study success), relevant work experience, English language skills and research plan for Master’s thesis project.It is important to show all relevant work experience with certificates (company name, the work duties and the work relationship’s exact start
and end dates) during application, if you want to achieve degree also in Metropolia.Proper work experience is defined that there is a contract between employee and employer and you have got salary. Please note, that your student status at Metropolia is determined based on your application documents and after the application period has closed, it is not possible
to have your work experience re-evaluated and student status changed.Admission procedure administrated by Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin (HTW Berlin)
Please note that the Metropolia UAS has no role in the admission/enrolment process, even though the studies start in Helsinki!
At Metropolia, there are two types of ConREM student groups:
• Double-degree students: If you have indicated on your application that you have more than two years of post-Bachelor work experience in relevant fields, you can obtain a degree from both HTW Berlin and Metropolia. You will be considered as a double-degree student at Metropolia and have your study right at Metropolia for three Academic years. In addition, you will have student benefits such as student health care services FSHS (you still need a separate health insurance), longer residence permit with one application process, smoother application process for HSL etc.
• Exchange students: If you do not have two years of post-Bachelor work experience, you will be receive a German Master’s degree title from HTW Berlin and will be considered as exchange students at Metropolia. Your study right at Metropolia will expire in the end of 2nd semester and your student benefits are limited in comparison to degree students.
You will receive your Metropolia welcome letter based on your student status. At HTW Berlin, you all will belong to one student group – degree students.
