How do you study during the programme?
You may perform all your studies online using synchronous and asynchronous online learning. Metropolia organizes the Master´s degree studies and study guidance in such a way that the student can complete the studies in a period which is equivalent to their extend. Studies may also be completed over a period that is longer than the normative duration of studies.Student must prepare an individual study plan. Student has the right to complete the studies in accordance with the curriculum for the degree in question and with the approved individual study plan. What Will You Study?
During your studies you will acquire advanced level competences
• on research and development activities
• quality management of clinical laboratory/radiography services
• basics of health technology assessment
• managing artificial intelligence and robotics based services in healthcare diagnostics
• clinical laboratory science/clinical radiography science
You will also study designing and managing modern diagnostic services.

Realising studies
Studies comprise syncronous e-learning and/or on-site lectures and workshops, independent online learning, group work and independent studies. Studies happen mainly at daily time. Mandatory contact studies are scheduled in good time before they start so that it would be possible to realize them also aside of work. Studies start in the beginning of September 2024.Metropolia organizes the Master´s degree studies and study guidance in such a way that the student can complete the studies in a period which is equivalent to their extend. Studies may also be completed over a period that is longer than the normative duration of studies. Normative duration of studies is 1 academic year for a degree of 60 ECTS and 1.5 academic years for a degree of 90 ECTS.Student must prepare an individual study plan. Student has the right to complete the studies in accordance with the curriculum for the degree in question and with the approved individual study plan.
For what kinds of jobs does this education give you competences?
The education gives you good skills and competences for front-line managerial, quality managerial and marketing posts as well as for different types of clinical expertise and service development jobs. In addition the education gives you excellent preparedness by substance to apply for professional teacher education.
Note that passing this programme does not give the right to practice the profession of biomedical laboratory scientist or radiographer in Finland. In case a person wishes to get the certification, it must be applied separately from National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira).
The Master’s Degree Programme in Health care diagnostics is a joint programme for students with biomedical laboratory scientist and radiographer backgrounds. These are health care diagnostic professions having many common features and even shared areas of job description e.g. in the field of nuclear medicine. Acting in the interface of patients, service systems and technology these professions are multifaceted. The program has many common intersections and studies with Health Business Management and Health Technology programmes and also some joint studies with these programmes.
During the studies the student will acquire advanced level competences on research and development as well as project management activities. Upon completion of the advanced professional studies, the student is capable of planning, executing and assessing quality management of clinical laboratory/radiography services. He/she will also get good competences on designing and managing modern diagnostic services including artificial intelligence and robotics based services.
