Master’s Degree Program in resilient,innovative and socially responsible legal and tech professionals
If you want to develop your skills in technology law, this programme is for you. You will learn along with emerging regulations, resilience skills, ethics as well as CSR and ESG considerations. You will not only be well-versed in the law but also equipped to navigate the ethical and social responsibilities that come with the integration of technology into organisations’ practices. As a technology law student, you must be very independent and able to develop and research. Therefore, you are expected to have an active and curious attitude as well as readiness to schedule your studies and commit yourself to completing them.
The mandatory core competencies (30 ECTS) will all be available completely online, provided by Laurea teachers and will be in English. The courses cover international technology contract law and negotiation skills, legal issues related to the commercialization of high technology, intellectual property rights and their strategic role in technology companies and other innovative organizations, privacy, cyber resilience, data ownership, and their growing significance as organizational assets within the framework of a fair data economy, legal and ethical considerations in the utilization of artificial intelligence, consumer, and marketing law, especially in digital consumer marketing, and utilization and development of legal tech tools.
Studying in the Technology Law programme
This is an online programme with English as the teaching language. Therefore, you may also enrol in the degree programme if you are living abroad.
The degree takes on average 1,5–2,5 years to complete. In line with the international ECTS standard, one credit corresponds to 26,7 hours of work for an average student.
The online learning environments support your learning. The study method varies depending on the course. Part of the degree programme involves fully independent study, such as essay writing or working on structured online exercises under the teacher’s guidance, but online meetings and group assignments are also included.
Tentative timetable
The programme will start in early September 2025. The timetable for the mandatory courses will be specified by the beginning of the semester.We recommend you take free choice (complementary) courses from e.g. campusonline.fi right from the beginning of your studies. You can choose complementary courses also from Laurea’s offering, see ops.laurea.fi.
Applicants must have a suitable degree completed at a university or a UAS and at least two years of relevant work experience acquired after graduation. Previous legal studies are beneficial for the programme, but they are not required.
Work experience must be related to the degree you are applying for or related to the degree you have graduated from.
